Our Journey
Founded in 2015 by sisters Priya and Deepa Sharma, Skirtly Stake began as a small boutique in the heart of Mumbai. Born into a family of textile artisans, we grew up watching our grandmother create magnificent garments that told stories through their intricate patterns and designs. This early exposure to the art of fashion sparked a vision that would later become Skirtly Stake.
Our initial collection, featuring just 12 handcrafted skirts, sold out within days of launch. This overwhelming response convinced us that there was a deep appreciation for garments that bridged the gap between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.

The Art of Craftsmanship
Each Skirtly Stake creation is a masterpiece of traditional Indian craftsmanship combined with contemporary design sensibilities. Our artisans, many of whom have been practicing their craft for decades, bring their expertise and passion to every piece they create.
We work with master craftsmen from various regions of India, each bringing their unique regional expertise to our collections. From the intricate Zardozi embroidery of Lucknow to the vibrant block prints of Jaipur, every technique is carefully chosen and executed to create garments that are both beautiful and meaningful.
Our Process
Each garment goes through a meticulous creation process that can take up to several weeks to complete. From initial design conceptualization to final quality checks, every step is carefully monitored to ensure the highest standards of quality and authenticity.
Our design process begins with extensive research into traditional patterns and techniques, followed by careful adaptation to contemporary silhouettes. We then create multiple prototypes, testing different fabrics and techniques until we achieve the perfect balance of tradition and modernity.
Our Impact
At Skirtly Stake, we believe that true success lies in uplifting our entire community. Through our work, we have created sustainable employment opportunities for over 200 artisans across India, with a particular focus on empowering women in rural communities.
Our Artisan Development Program provides training and skill development opportunities to emerging craftspeople, ensuring that traditional techniques continue to thrive in the modern era. We have also established the Skirtly Stake Foundation, which works to provide education and healthcare support to our artisans' families.
